The 5199 Project have set up a brand new website, to mainly provide information on the loco itself but also to try and distinguish themselves from the 6880 Society with which they generally get confused with. This is simply because many people who are part of 5199 are also part of 6880, but they are two different groups with their own aims.

Anyway, the website is only embryonic, but if you would like to take a look and make any suggestions I shall pass them onto their new webmaster. The link is below

No I do not currently volunteer
Good news indeed about the copper boiler stays; since they've apparently been an issue across the preservation movement, I wonder if this presages similar good news for other groups which have been hit by this issue?

Further updates also now added online.

Also the Summer newsletter has been issued to us Shareholders, which includes a bit of extra information.
*Awaiting delivery of new smokebox door ring
*Loco has benn re-wheeled, including freshly white metalled axleboxes
*Rods have all been rebushed and given a polish
*Brake Gear has been rebushed, painted and refitted in August
*Hope is to re-enter traffic towards end of Year (at a guess for LR Winter Warmer event if not sooner)
*Is to remain Llangollen based for next 10 Years, but is available for short term hire & Galas

Also announced is the Launch of the "KEEP ON STEAMING APPEAL", which is a re-branding of the Project's original "Drip-Feed Fund".
This asks for supporters to donate a minimum of £5/month for the next 10 Years, with every £180 of contributions being converted into a single Share of the 5199 Project. Such donations, and any income from steaming fees will hopefully see enough made to cover the cost of her next expected overhaul in 2024.
