Just been announced that Copy Pit line is to be closed for 20 weeks from 9 Nov for repairs to Holme tunnel. This will allow current 20 mph limit to be raised to 45 mph. The line should re-open around 30 Mar, but any delay could mean further re-scheduling.

Is the reinstated Todmorden curve opening to coincide with the end of the copy pit closure?

Completion was scheduled for the end of December, but all latest info confirms is that it will be open in time for the timetable changes in May 2014.

I hope one of the Railtour promoters puts together a steam tour "first public train over the curve etc" to celebrate its opening.

Going slightly off topic, but the opening of the Todmorden Curve will provide the opportunity for somebody to run a series of mini "Cotton Mill Expresses", doing the circle from Manhester Vic, via Rochdale, Todmorden, Burnley, Blackburn and Bolton. Three good climbs - Miles Platting, Copy Pit and Sough and doing two or three trips in a day would allow passengers from those stations mentioned to do a full circuit (although ticketing might be a bit of a nightmare!).
