Please could someone associated with the IOWSR take a risk and give an estimated steaming date for W24 this year - dangerous I know - are we talking 1-3 months away or more?

    Many thanks,

Progress continues with W24's overhaul but no potential date for a return to service has yet been announced. There is still work to do and, as the 'high season' approaches, the engineering team will have to devote more time to keeping the working fleet on the road which may dilute the effort going into Calboune's overhaul. I am sure that we would all like to see Calbourne in action for the August Bank Holiday Steam Show but it looks like a case of wait and see.

Meanwhile, please don't forget to vote for the IWSR in the in the semi-finals of Best Heritage Project catetgory of the The National Lottery Awards 2010.

I recently found this photo on fotopic - looks like all the major components are back on including the new smokebox.

Nice to see Calbourne coming back together and this time in black, ,i wonder, the pic of her next to the ivatt tanks, shades of Ryde 1969 might have beens .
whats the plans for the tender loco? will she at some stage get restored or is it a no hoper the reason i ask is, if they have no desire to restore it why dont the IOWSR see if another railway such as the Bluebelle take it on loan , or will it become viable to restore it for when they start running services to Ryde St Johns , a light weight tender loco, would be more practical than running a tank engine once you extend the run round at wootton as i should imagine that runing Havenstreet-ryde- wotton then back to haven street then on to ryde might put you a bit low on water?

I understood the initial plan was cosmetic restoration for 46447; would love to be proved wrong though, for heritage lines those Ivatt 2's really are excellent machines.
