Nice photo Andrew. I know it says 45699 on the front but they can't fool me! (Only joking chaps)
Seriously, very well done to Mr. Smith and his team for tackling such a project. To produce a working mainline
loco out of what looked like a total wreck is nothing short of a miracle IMO.

Thanks for posting the Pic Andrew - does anybody have a picture of Galatea (thats assuming that this is Galatea!) in her as purchased state from Barry - had a quick trawl on google images and she looked in a right old decrepit state but not sure what else may of been removed prior to purchase.

Definitely a red jubilee and not a red herring!

My money is on it being Bihar & Orrissa, though.

Looking at both photos it looks like the loco has been lowered, or the tender raised

Belated thanks for the info Andrew and nice photo at post 1031.

I left the house shortly after 12 and it took me 30 minutes just to get to the M61 as I intended to go to Hellifeild. Decided it wasn't worth the 100+ mile return journey to have been lucky to get a photo of her running tender first with the support coach.

Neil, hoping to be out for the loaded test run... :eek:hwell:

Ta for the kind words re my pic, and more particularly hearty congratulations to all at WCRC for the successful completion of mission impossible!

To mark the occastion, I have put together an album of 45 photos featuring the last year of the Jubilees (1967), Leander at Barry, Galatea arriving at Carnforth from Barry in 1980, and then looking at the four survivors. Some of the pix have been seen before but some are new:

Well done to all at WCRC for reviving a total Barry wreck. I Look forward to her forthcoming career on the mainline.

Now 45699 is finished and as a Southern man, more power to their elbows in reviving 35018!

Fantastic news now for its debut send it to Exeter for the GB with tangmere as I don't think sir Lamiel can work pass Plymouth, Although this is unlikely.

Now that we've seen the loco back in working order, when does the livery debate start ?

    Both possible.
No tender bearings in the before shot as they will have been brass/bronze material.
A scrap loco would be all over the place with half drivingwheels, missing parts etc.
Once everything is back where it should be, bits line up again!

Bear in mind the loco will ride lower on its springs due to a full boiler of water and the re-fitment of a lot off parts missing from Barry. Don't know exactly the difference between the weight of an ex-Barry Jubilee, empty boiler and missing parts v loco in full working order. Bet it is quite a bit.
