Will it be in ROD livery?

Yes, I believe it will. I am sure that the intention is that this loco remains in its WW1 livery until after the centenary of the Armistice in 2018. (However, I stand to be corrected on this!). 5322 was a frequent visitor to the Glos Warks Region in the 1950s when it ran from Andover to Cheltenham and back over the MSWJR line. 53xxs were also common on the Kingham Cheltenham line but I have not seen many photos of them on the Stratford-Cheltenham route in GWR or BR days. It will be great to see it alongside another Churchward loco there!

Either way, there's the chance of a glint shot at Chicken Curve and the silhouette at Didbrook where the livery is superfluous! ;-)

Will be nice to see the loco stretch its legs a little all the same.

glint at Chicken Curve on the outside of the curve is primarily winter (public location), albeit a late evening glint is on the inside of the curve in summer(from trackside) . Didbrook similarly is an evening silhouette in summer.

On a GWR goods rake though could be very nice

Point being there's opportunities of photographing the loco that make the livery academic. On this note, there was a lovely glint shot of 8264 (maroon 8F) in the last Steam Railway - there was no way you could tell it was maroon and to all intents and purposes could have been any colour!

I thought the colour meant that it was permanently glinting anyway!

The engine should be visiting several other railways during the course of the year as well, so watch this space.

What is the correct term for the khaki livery that 5322 currently wears? I can think of a number of vernacular descriptions, "flying t~~d colour" for example, but there must be a polite term for it surely?

It will be nice to see the loco stretch its legs outside the confines of Didcot and to be honest I'm looking forward to seeing the khaki livery.

In about 1962, i went on a school trip from Worcester to London. We travelled on "The Cathedrals Express" behind 7005 Sir Edward Elgar. I can still remember seeing a Western at Paddington in "Desert Sand" livery.

This appears (photographs and memory) somewhat similar to 5322's current livery in sunshine.

GWR khaki - A standard GWR livery for about a year or so during WW1. It was not confined just to engines in WD service, apparently.

According to the owner of this video, it'll be repainted in GWR green soon - can anyone confirm/deny this? Hoping to get up to Didcot either this weekend or on Wednesday to see it, hope it won't be for the only time in khaki!

If I've interpreted your reply correctly, this means 5322 is to remain in khaki for a while longer. Good news indeed.
