Nowhere because if someone were to do that, the loco would weigh far more than any suitable transporter could manage.

Of course he has a moral right to plinth it. Why would that be immoral? There are hundreds of locos on display to the public, many of which will never work again. We don't consider their plinthing to be immoral. What's different about 60009?

Indeed he did - I know, because quite by chance I happened to travel on the down train from East Grinstead with him! I wasn't rostered that day, but had arranged to meet someone for lunch, so decided to take the first service up and back just for the ride on the GN Saloon. Because I was alone and occupying a table for two, when we got to East Grinstead, one of the station staff asked if I minded sharing the table for the ride back to Sheffield Park. "Not at all I said", and an elderly gentleman with a soft Scottish accent sat down. We chatted over coffee about the Bluebell, railways in general, and his plans for a museum on his farm, over the course of which it gradually dawned on me who I was talking to! (I had never met him before). When we got to Sheffield Park, we said our farewells. UoSA was in the other platform waiting to depart; he pulled on a blue preparation coat from his bag, climbed onto the engine and away it went!

My overriding sense from that chance conversation was that he was a thoroughly decent man.

So anyway - where will 60009 call home for the rest of 2020 and beyond?

60009 isn't just any old locomotive. It's kind of a big deal. There are only four A4s in the UK and Mallard will probably never run again. Bittern likewise. It's not like it's just some industrial.

That would depend on your definition of 'public'.

My understanding is that the proprietor runs this forum in order to make a small profit. Members on payment of a small subscription can read/post without the distraction of adverts.
Those who choose not to subscribe should see adverts, the income from which covers the missing subscription.

(I believe that some people use ad-blocking software to bypass those adverts, and thus reduce the viability of the forum.)

That decision rests with John Cameron and the Cameron Railway Trust (see my post #824 on 4 January).

    "Just some industrial". !!!

I'll have you know that without the humble industrial locos we probably wouldn't have the heritage railways which we have today. Without industry the railways would not have been able to pay their way on just passenger receipts (excerpt possibly the Southern Railway)

A4 locos are just the glamour, industrials are the nitty gritty of railways.

In 2010 when 61994 paid a visit back home to the SVR I went to Kidderminster to take some photos, whilst off the bridge I called down to him and asked when was it's bigger cousin coming home? 'Soon son, soon' was the reply Mr Cameron has given myself and my father so many happy times, I always think of No9 and a smile comes across my face.

so if you've no idea if there's any truth in it, why pass it on.
Regarding your last comment, have you not read the last 1,000 odd posts?

I noticed that a few days ago, I WAS going to say something but completely forgot. Courtesy and good manners cost nothing. Mr Cameron has given a lot of people a lot of pleasure over the years, he deserves courtesy.

Agreed - but at least it was built in the UK. South Africa was famous for selling its withdrawn locos to industrial concerns - especially coal and gold mines. I vividly remember driving an ex SAR/SAS Class S2 0-8-0 in the gold mines around Johannesburg after the late Dusty Durrant introduced my friends and me to the local network in 1978.

I take it that you've heard that, first hand, from Mr Hosking........ or is it just more ill founded rumour and speculation on your part?
