Been an announcement on the NNR Plc Facebook page pretty much confirming all that has been speculated so far.

Key stake in 76084 acquired by an NNR supporter, who wishes to stay anonymous, with Mr Harkett acting as the representative on the board. 76084 will remain based at the NNR for the forseeable future. Whilst the NNR & Cromer services will get priority, visits to other railways and main line operations will still take place.

Just a little update for people who are not on Facebook about 76084.

76084 has been running throughout the year at the North Norfolk Railway and operated successfully to Cromer a number of times. After the rescheduled NNR's gala in mid October, the engine has been withdrawn from traffic for attention to the locomotives axleboxes. A distinctive knock under load had become apparent and a space in the NNR engineering's busy schedule was found for the engine to be lifted.

At the beginning of this week, two 76084 members, along with NNR volunteers and paid staff, began to strip the engine and prepare for lifting on the NNRs locomotive jacks. On Thursday 25th October the engine was lifted and wheels rolled out. As well as this major job, the engine is having several other jobs attended too on this period of Winter Maintenance. There has been no timescale been set for a return to service, but hopefully it will be run in and tested at the NNR before the end of the year.

Even if the class were not a common sight in East Anglia during BR days, I do think 76084 looks right at home in North Norfolk due to the Ivatt 4 lineage.

Work has progressed this week with numerous measurements being taken. It’s looking more and more likely that all six driving axleboxes will require some sort of attention. In the meantime, a group of three of us have started to undertake a few bits of routine maintenance like cleaning and stripping the drain cocks, stripping the ejector and cleaning the frames. Unfortunately, the engine weren’t steam cleaned prior to lifting, so parfin, scrapers and elbow grease required!

I thought the NNR had bought a majority share in the loco? If that is correct then I would assume it would stay on the line.
Apologies if I have got that wrong
