Sorry but I'm making no excuse for pointing everyone to a brilliant video made by the 5305 folk showing Sir Lamiel at work on the GCR. It really is sad that we no longer get the benefit of her on the main line but I have to say that this is a masterpiece and all credit to those involved. The link below will take you to where it has already been posted in the Photography thread but if it rekindles a discussion about 777 here then so much the better. That ECML incident must have been one of the worst hard luck stories to befall a steam locomotive for some time. It's just great to see her like this now.

Got to be one of the smartest looking preserved locos- especially in malachite!

Great video, was wondering when we might see some gopro footage of steam locos.

What is the valve which the member of the footplate crew appears to be shutting by winding anti-clockwise, around 2'10"?

So is 777 getting close towards going back into service? The loco is starting to be advertised for a few events so what is up?

The GCR website shows 777 as "Operational". How long have I got if I want to get a ride behind it? And how do I find out which trains it will be working on which days?

Its boiler ticket runs out in October this year. Locomotive rosters are usually announced a few days in advance however (like this weekend just gone), was meant to be running but failed and was replaced.

Slightly out of the box but a company called Tolhurst Model Engineering has just produced these King Arthurs in Gauge 1, including this model
Of Sir Lamiel. Probably the finest models produced in 1/32 with full scale backhead and controls as well as many other features. Included is a link below to a video of sir Lamiel being run in for those who are interested.

    Regards

    Stuart

Hmm. They were planning to repaint it 1948 malachite for the Gala so if what you say is true, no KA/BB doubleheader on October. :(

Only going by the caption on here. Shame if it is true, but probably not worth the time and effort to repair it for only a couple of months in service.
