I'm wanting to get hold of some brake blocks (to suit S.R. PMV's/CCT's) The last lot I got was from Horwich Foundry so a good while ago. I think that they are coded R2. Does anyone know who might be able to supply these?

Have you tried asking C+W at Pickering?

Not yet. It's on my list for Friday . However, they don't have any S. R. vans and they are different from Mk. 1"s, I believe.

If you have a sample block the foundry at Loftus may be able to assist.
They seem to do a fair bit for the NYMR and we have just asked them to do some bits for PW wagons.

I'm told the foundry at Loftus should be able to help. Getting hold of them seems to be the difficult bit!

I could be wrong, but I believe SR PMV/CCT blocks are not R2's but are in the R series. R2's are used on DMU's but also fit Mark 1's.

I would have to check to be 100% sure, but off the top of my head I think you are after the R4.

Thanks for this. I'll have to have a measure up. I was going by the fact that there was an R2 drawing in the file. We don't have any Mk1s or dmus so don't know why we have the drawing.

If I remember, I will check the PMV in our yard on Monday so I can more sure about them taking R4's. I think the main difference is the R4 is slightly longer, applying to a larger area of the wheel.

I've checked the blocks that we already have and can confirm that they are R4 blocks. I'm glad I did as I discovered another 36 blocks hidden away that I didn't know we had. That will put off the need to order some for a good while. We've also got a few R1 blocks. I've no idea what these will fit.

R1's are the normal blocks for Mark 1's. You mentioned you don't have any of them, but given their abundance I suggest you would have no problems selling your R1's to other lines!
