MK1 subs with 31's were used on the Kings Cross locals until the late 70's. Therefore they were in blue.

I would say a fine example of a Merchant Navy (35028 or 35005) Hauling a Full rake of Bulleid Coaches! What a dream!!!

All you standard gauge people should look over the fence and see what the narrow gauge has actually achieved in this regard. The Ffestiniog Railway has been building various replicas of carriages and vans long since scrapped and they have also made two vehicles for the Welshpool and Llanfair. A third vehicle is now on order.

All the standard gauge needs is a comparable facility to Boston Lodge and a very great deal of money!

If this discussion continues I'd be interest to know how many are do-able with surviving coaches (with restoration required) and how many require new-builds.

I suspect/hope there are enough NER Clerestories, and Bulleids/Maunsells.

Buy up all the Pullman coachs at Restaurants and hotels and restore them for preserved railway use (gwsr), particulary the 3 12-wheelers at Sunderland (I think).

Best current rake would have to be the LMS red rose set at SVR... behind a maroon western of course!...

A six coach set of blood & custard Thompsons (all the surviving corridor examples) would be good, as would be rounding up all the pre-LNER Gresleys - GNR and ECJS.
