I made my first visit to the Epping Ongar Railway on Saturday for their 1940's event, however, in my opinion the show was stolen by the four ex London buses that were in action. Two RT's, one RF and one RM plying their trade in this corner of Essex looked fabulous.
My photos from the event in which the buses are very prominent can be seen here http://paulgildersleve.smugmug.com/...urday/29760992_mrBXB9#!i=2549501295&k=45wxQJG

I once had the pleasure of driving an RT for about half an hour, it had an AEC engine with Wilson pre select gearbox which, once I'd got used to the box, it was easy peasy. Great machines.

I went two weeks ago - it was a surprise bonus to have (included in the train price) a round rover that took in a countryside jaunt in the red single-decker back from North Weald to Epping - via Toot Hill. That was all very jolly. Good to see the more direct vintage bus route being used by locals too around Epping itself.

Are tickets available for bus journeys only? The website only seems to advertise combined tickets for bus & rail.

Yes, you can buy a "bus only" ticket, available from the conductor.
Our services are very popular with local residents (and we accept senior citz passes too), indeed I believe we run more services on a Sunday than any other on this route!!)

I'm pretty sure I saw an RTL last Saturday,it was on the A12 heading East.It was in London Country green and was sporting wedding ribbons. If my memory isn't faulty I seem to recollect it has a different radiator grill from the AEC and the rear window upstairs was slightly smaller.
