So what exactly is happening with Taff Vale 28 at present. Last time the NRM appears to have said anything was in March http://www.nrm.org.uk/AboutUs/PressOffice/PressReleases/2013/March/Taff Vale.aspx as far as I can see. Has the £10, 0000 been raised, is the cosmetic restoration underway? Its not just the A3 the NRM press office and Webmaster has problems giving updates about.

Thanks Peter - there is imminent news I'm glad to say. Watch various spaces as I think a press release is due soon.

Thanks Tom. I had a copy of that on my bedroom wall as a child, but I haven't seen it for many years. An appropriately silly livery for a very idiosyncratic loco design. There's a prototype for everything!

    Pinched from facebook "Heritage Painting
As part of the ongoing work on 4472 Flying Scotsman, Heritage Painting are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the painting elements of the overhaul contract currently being undertaken at Riley & Sons in Bury. The allows us continue our proud relationship with this locomotive and we look forward to being a small part of the team that brings her back to full fitness."

Hope they won't be waiting too much longer.

Anyone know anyone in the paint trade near Blackburn? Ask them to look out for a large order of light green/black/tartan paint (delete as applicable) and let us know.

    I. Still have that print in my attic somewhere. Part of a set from the Sunday Times I think? I stand to be corrected

The original was in "Four Main Lines" by C. Hamilton Ellis, along with a bit of background info about the livery and the reason why the loco was thus painted - Royal Stewart tartan, apparently. No idea where prints were subsequently distributed, though the fact that I found a couple on eBay when looking for an image suggests that there probably was a run of prints.

Some photos of the front end of the frames, bogie frames and cylinder blocks have been put on the NRM's Scotsman website today.
Can't give a link, I just about found it myself!! Poor communication by the NRM?

Poor communication.... what do you want them to do give everyone a ring separately to confirm they have added some pics?

It hadn't been great over the years but this criticism seems a little unnecessary.

No, but I would expect the Flying Scotsman microsite, as they call it, to be accessed direct from the NRM's home page, not at the bottom of October's press release.
