BBC Weather today 13:55pm had a fabulous picture of FS in the yard at NRM in a very heavy snow shower.

To a non photographers eye those are cracking good photos. Thank you for showing them.
And those deflectors definitely suit the loco, it looks magnificent.

You are right Victor, and I think that despite all the hype etc, she would probably look just as magnificent to most of us without the deflectors. Lets face it any Pacific gleaming in a new paint job looks great.

I just keep thinking that deflectors would look better on an A3 with a racehorse name.:)

Now wouldn't it be nice if, one day, he could be persuaded to lend the tender back to the NRM for a while so she could be turned out in her Pegler-era condition again?

Having said that, right now I am just grateful to see her back in steam, regardless of what shade of green she is painted or whether or not deflectors are present!

If locomotives can be hired, so can tenders.

In theory, couldn't a non stop run to York be done with the second tender...? Isn't it an extra 5000 or 6000 gallons (or more?)

Thank you to the esteemed gentlemen above for sharing their photographs with us. I just can't believe it's been over a week since that fabulous day.

In theory, probably yes. In reality, probably not as it would delay VTEC and other traffic on the two track sections of the ECML.
