Shame on David Wilcock for such an incompetent interview, and shame on Gary Boyd-Hope for publishing it in that form. It's an insult to Mr Davies and an insult to the magazine's readers.

Wilcock always was a second-rate hack, and it's no surprise he's moved around the magazines as often as he has. The surprise is that editors keep taking him on. At the very least, he needs a firm editorial hand, but GBH has failed to reign him in. No decent journalist needs three multi-page episodes to tell the tale of the attempted closure of the S&C and it's reprieve. No decent journalist needs two episodes to interview the head of the NRM. No decent journalist would try to put himself at the centre of either story. On the up-side, it is plain to everyone now just how good a "journalist" DW actually is, so maybe it will hasten his overdue retirement.

well for me as i have said before it is in the best place, It is being looked after by the best people for the right reasons,
It will be done when it is done, and then it will be "Right". what more can we need,
Ian Riley has only got one colour paint anyway, so the debate would not go far if left to him would it now.

It does appear that no-one has been listening to Steve Davies in the tumult surrounding the continuing (mis) handling of 4472's restoration and the continuing set backs being dealt with as they arise. To clarify Steve's public declaration; 4472 has carried many liveries in its lifetime and these will be used during the course of the working life once the locomotive is restored to full working order.

Steve has neither identified the selection of liveries, how long they will be carried or the order in which they will appear BUT as trustee of the locomotive it is surely for enthusiasts to trust that such an enthusiast as Steve Davies will not cheapen the effort in order to make a fast buck. He is in a position of trust - surely the least we as linesiders can do is is trust him.

Yet more problems.........the Yorkshire Post has an "exclusive" front page article today about the painting of the "train engine"(can you believe it) and nepotism...........I'll leave it to someone else to dig the article out............

    Ouch...

That does not make for good reading; I hope that the issues raised are cleared up as a matter of urgency for all concerned; not least Mr & Mrs Ashby. I also hope that no-one is moved to speculate about this on here...

I note, too, apropos of nothing, one would wish, that that article appears to be sponsored by a firm of solicitors...

    That would be Yorks

How loose can you make links between a part of our heritage and a curator to make a piece of news?

Although I am disturbed that a piece of national heritage bought by members of the public is being renamed to someone nobody has ever heard of even for just a press call. Come on NRM spend money on the loco not pointless renaming and press calls.

Not true. Why let the facts get in the way of a good story? And no, I am not prepared to go further into details here, sorry.

Can we move back on to 4472/103/502 please?

Is there any news on when 4472 will be heading back to Bury and perhaps a date for when she will return to steam?

    Thanks

Depending on what eventually turn out to be the facts it might be appropriate to perpetuate some good old Eastern names for example Straight Deal or Golden Fleece! :)

At the risk of sounding flippant - when she's finished.
