As reported on the boardroom blog, the gwsr has saw a 13% rise in passenger numbers in 2016, passing the 100,000 barrier for the first time. I know that compared to the major players 100,000 is no where near there figures but considering that we only have have a couple of paid staff and that we also still don't run 7 days a week I think it's a tremendous effort.
A final year of our current operation begins in march, then it'll be interesting to see what the opening of broadway brings in march 2018!!

Although much excellent work is being undertaken on both the new Hayles Abbey Halt and the Broadway Extension, the PWay Team are busy, as usual, during the closed season on existing track maintenance and replacement. Currently, the PWay Team are replacing parts of the track (mainly sleeper replacement) from Winchcombe to Greet Tunnel; this section being pretty well untouched since it was laid in the late 1980s. The PWay Team blog has just been updated with images of the latest progress but also some fascinating photos of drainage and trackbed renewal undertaken at the same location in 1948-9. Fascinating stuff! See: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gwr_permanent_way_photo_log/31374905524/in/photostream/
