Went on HMS Belfast for the first time today. (by Tower Bridge). Can really recommend it as loads to see. Apparently its the only surviving large British warship from WW2 and it was also used in the Korean war.
I was really surprised, you can go down in the Engine rooms, boiler rooms and around all parts of the ship all left exactly as it was in service. Apparently the guns could fire shells 14 miles.
You see these ships in movies but is a real eye opener to see inside one for real.

I recommend too going in the rear turret as there it shows what it was like when the guns fired and the turret shakes and fills up with smoke as it would have done.

Always meant to pay a visit there, that and the war rooms, although I've lost an afternoon round the Imperial War Museum.

When I got there the cashier said its 17 quid which includes a £2 donation, so you don't have to pay that 2 pounds if you don't want to.

I know there are quite a few radio Hams that read and post on NP. I wonder if everyone is aware that there is a Ham station regularly operation from HMS Belfast. The QSL cards are worth having! :)
