its all looking very odd, this engine is certainly playing merry go rounds as regards owners, when purchased it was joint owned by John Bunch and Richard Heather then ownership transfered to just Richard Heather, , now via his father in law its back to John bunch ,didnt John Atterton have a share in the as yet unrestored BB ?
But at least now the engine will hopefully get finished off and in a few years be joining Tangmere , i just hope that we dont see a glut of merchants on the mainline , but it looks that way how long before we see the rota for the weymouth /swanage seaside specials being as 35009 35027 35019 34028 34072 it would keep the southern fans happy especially when you get 2 merchants passing at hook at speed

A bit odd, why not spend the money on restoring Mr Bunch's BB engine?

but doesn't John have a share in 34067 ? if so then 35018 as a potentially more complete engine is more appealing

Doubt you will see the latter two going on the mainline to be honest!

And i assume you mean 35018 and not 35019, as 19 has long since been scrapped!

Very logical to me - the MN is far more complete and already has a tender, and as the bigger engine might be more attractive for the main line, so sell the other to help pay for it. 35018's chinese made rods might be a problem, though, if they really were - could the oones from the light pacific be used in their place

John sold his share in 34067 a while ago though he still manages the main line operations for this Loco.

Spot on about the Chinese rods and surprisingly those rods have only just been moved from the MHR;

We shall have to see what develops from this, interesting times we live in.

I'm taking a particular interest in this engine as my father served as an engineer in the "British India Steam Navigation Co." line (often shortened to "British India Line") in the 1950's rising to the position of 1st Engineer on some of the steam ships he sailed on.

Just to clear a few things up. John Bunch`s father in law is MHRPS vice president Norman Atherden. His wife Jean i believe volunteered for a time, serving in the Alresford shop.

As regards the ownership of 34073, last i heard it was jointly owned by John Bunch and Geoff Gore.

Well done for confirming what has already been said though I cannot understand where "249 Squadron" came into the equation.
