    Hi

I was recently browsing through Trains Illustrated for 1956 and reading the description of the centenary celebrations for the Tilbury-Southend line, I wondered what had happened to the 1910 Cravens bogie third which had been restored to London Tilbury & Southend Rly livery and used on the special train. The LTSR 4-4-2T Thundersley which was also returned to pre-Grouping livery of course survives.
I suspect the carriage was scrapped around the time of electrification, but does anyone have any definite info, please?

I believe that is correct. I saw some photos of the tour the other day and someone mentioned it was stored at Stratford works for a while afterwards before being scrapped.

There is a reference in "Railway Carriages" by G.M.Kitchenside 1964 page 3, to the effect that the LTSR bogie third and a Wisbech and Upwell Tramway coach were broken-up due to lack of storage space.
I can recall reading, many years ago, that both had taken a trip through a hump in a marshaling yard and ended up with broken backs.
Can anyone throw any light on that event?
There is a portion of an LTS coach at the East Anglian Railway Museum see http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=3885 does anyone know its history?
