The boiler is out of the frames and in the boiler shop, there are drawings spread out in the machine shop, so developing quite a bit now 87 is nearly out of the way.

There's been a lot going on in the background - getting various bits and pieces cast, machined, fabricated, whatever...

As 'SillyB' says - once No.87 has moved North there will be the opportunity for more visible progress...

Really must get over the Lodge and take some update photos...

Aaaaaaaaaah yea Roger could you??? That would be ace! Could you let me know as soon as you do/they're online?

I am glad to see this is progressing well! Was supprised when the FR decided to go ahead with this, I mean they have no stake in the L&B or it's history, but it is definetly great that they are! The boys at Boston Lodge planning anything new next?

The project isnt actually the Ffestiniog's doing, it was started by a group of individuals one of which is Paul Lewin the FR general manager, it has been decided to base it at the FR/WHR when complete and they are using Boston Lodge to build the loco with parts coming from outside contractors and some made in house.

The Lodge is/has making/made quite a lot of the parts. Some of the fundraising has been done by the FfR, such as the guest driver trains, profit from which went to the Lyd pot, I think? Roger I'm sure will be able to correct me.

And when the little engine is completed, not only will the FR/WHR have another new build engine for us to go and admire, but we old armchair lot will hopefully get the added bonus of some more of Roger's delightful little train drawings.
    Cheers Bernard

Maybe old hat Roger, maybe I am old hat, but really this year, hopefully again, as in the last 50 odd years I will spend 3 or 4 weeks in my little nest in North Wales mainly to enjoy the FR and now over the last decade or more the WHR as well.
The other 48 weeks or so of the year from my chair stuck in front of this machine I will look eagerly each day at the various websites compiled by Ben, Barrie and many others hopefully to see photos of the railways taken by you and others.
As I have often said on various websites, you also provide those amazing little train drawings, to me, and I believe to many others, those drawings of yours are part and parcel of the whole picture of the FR/WHR and long may they continue to always be part of.
Old hat? no way, modern technology for a modern railway , may your pictures continue.
    Cheers Bernard

According to the 'Boss' - "likely haulage capacity of five bogie vehicles"

Some basic info on the 'Lyd Project' HERE - must get Paul to do an update soon...

Helloooo, I don't suppose anyone who went to Eastleigh 100 happens to know if Lyd was there, as apparently she was supposed to be, and if so if any photos were taken??? I understood that she was meant to go with all her complete components attatched?

    Thanks

    Chris

Don't know the why's and wherefore's behind the change of plans - but I'll be keeping an eye on progress at Boston Lodge and will add photos to my fotopic gallery...
