You've built another one over the Summer? I guess having the patterns and all that stuff really pays off!

Though i liked the black, it now feels like Lyd is finished. Fantastic!

Now if only the two L&B coaches under construction could be finished in green, at least temporarily...

Just curious, are there links between Lyd and this one which I saw earlier this year?

Looking at the shots at Boston Lodge I thought I was looking at something from Fairbourne. It looks tiny in some of those photographs!

    Mmmm.... like these:

    http://www.accucraft.uk.com/products/lynton-barnstaple-railway-coaches/

Interestingly their site says parts of nine coaches survived, how many will be re-assembled from that lot? I was just thinking what a lovely sight eight of them double-headed by 'Lyd' and 'Lyn' would make..... perchance to dream..... (I think the L&B limit was nine double-headed).

'Lyd' looks absolutely gorgeous! Full marks to all involved.

She looks absolutely stunning - well done to all involved. Any idea how much she is likely to be out and about hauling trains on the FR/WHR over the next few months?

Without taking anything away from a truly magnificent piece of work, it's just a pity that the cab has to have the necessary "cut-down" edges to fit the FR profile. Does anyone know if the optional "add-on" sections to make the cab up to the L&BR profile are still planned?

Following on from the question about the cab, can a poster advise where Lyd fits in with the running fleet. i.e. is she likely to see regular service or with the double engines and the ladies being in service and therefore the main stay of the fleet which it just be on special occasions.

I did think that possibly she may see more service on the shorter winter trains but being oil fired is she likely to loose out just on economic grounds.

Obviously it is good that presently the FR seem to have a large part of the loco fleet available but equally have done such a good job it would be nice to see Lyd in a bit more regular use

The 'original' roof profile sectionsare still planned at some point. They haven't yet been fabricated.

Lyd will be converted to coal firing after Superpower.

Lyd has proved to be a bit thirsty on oil, I am pleased to see a public declaration of conversion to coal. It is a pity as I believe it is a boiler out job to do the conversion. I hope we do not scratch the new paint job that Glenn has done. There was great anguish when Merddin was converted just after its lovely paint job.

Coal firing may improve steaming, but that long thin boiler is difficult to get to steam well. We will also need ash pits as the ashpan has to be emptied between the rails due to the trailing truck design, unless there is an alternative to which I am unaware.

Once on coal it might get rostered more often. Last time I asked, it was hoped the original cab profiles will be made in time for Lyd's visit to L&B world at the NEC before Xmas 2012. Donations still needed to complete the job.

    Regards

    Peter

First time I had laid eyes on this machine at the weekend and what a beauty she is. Seemed to be more than master of four coaches up the Welsh Highland, indeed it seemed she could easily coped with an extra couple, so hopefully she will prove a viable addition.
