It's a big bugger and no mistake. And it was blessed by the Bishop of Bangor, no less.

Those who should know say ten FR and five WHR. They also say there's about three months' work left to do. They also also say that some more cash would be welcome.

seams like a good plan to wait till one gets finished before starting on another - so the fund raising is to start soon??

I think that's unlikely with Lyn being constructed, and even when she's finished i cant see another L&B replica being a priority.

    Re: Lyd, Lyn and Yeo...

Whereas LYD is being built for FR/WHR use, YEO (and later, EXE, TAW and LEW) will be built for use on the extended L&B but, as befits locos of this size, will not be needed until the line has been extended to something in the region of 10 miles length.

The 762 Club -the current L&B project to build a replacement for the American-built Baldwin, LYN - is well underway (and so far 1/3rd subscribed) and is taking precedence over YEO so that experience gained through the building and operating of LYD can be incorporated into that project, and as the Baldwin is considered to be more cost-effective and flexible for use on a shorter route.

YEOs frames are in storage, and I imagine that will remain the case for some years yet.

However, anybody wanting to see an "L&B" Manning Wardle running on L&B metals need only wait until this September (NOT October - thanks Mike!), when it is expected that LYD will be visiting Woody Bay for the Autumn Steam Gala.

(BTW, I am speaking as an individual here, this is not an official L&B statement!)

    Re: Lyd, Lyn and Yeo...

....although she won't be there if the money to finish her isn't forthcoming - so if you want to see Lyd at Woody Bay this year, time to open the cheque book! ;)
