    Just a few things!

Firstly, I want to say to anyone involved in the L&B, I love you! I have always dreamed of riding on it, and was a member of the association from when I was about to 5 till I was about 12ish! I am so glad it is being rebuilt and as soon as I live remotely close enough (Bath in the Summer hopefully - maybe sooner after that) I will definetly be down to help out! Bishops Waltham to North Devon is a bit of a trek at the moment, even for a 21 year old, must become a member again though! But I just want to say that I give you full and unconditional love, support and gratitude for everything you are doing at Woody Bay and beyond, I cannot wait to ride from Lynton to Barnstaple again :p \:D/

Secondly, how is the heritage stock search going? Is the boogie van and coach restoration going well? What is the likelihood of a 4 coach/3 coach + van rake anytime soon? Cannot wait to ride in one of those beauties! Or behind Lyd when she is delievered :D

Just want to say again, thanks for everything you are doing! I cant wait to get in there and help you out too!

Boogie Van? Is that a Mobile Disco? I think that you will have to travel a bit further north to see Lyd in action.

Sorry, bad spelling day! Isn't it funny how people always pick up on the negatives and rarely the positives in this forum...

...and yes I am fully aware that Lyd is in North Wales, not North Devon...

Hi there - don't let 'em get you down!
The L&B is indeed a marvelous railway - do rejoin! And we know that Lyd will visit Devon soon after its completion. And, of course, we all hope the new Lyn will be with us in a few years.
If you've not already, consider joining the YAhoo group Exmoor-NG, and check out the railway website and the website of the 762 club (www.762club.com).
    Cheers!

Don't take it to heart, it was meant to be a joke. I thought that you might be confusing Lyd with Lyn.

Steady on, don't get carried away! 8-[

I was at a meeting recently where someone from the coach restoration group stated that the current L&B thinking is the heritage train will be formed of coaches 7, 17, 4 and van 23.

Coach 7 has been temporarily removed from Woody Bay to Essex, where it is being partially rebuilt, bogies fitted and then finally repainted. There are some images here of the coach being dried-out inside secure storage (don't be concerned about the state of the paint work, patches of the previous paint had been stripped back deliberately to bare metal and wood panels): http://sally903.fotopic.net/c1607345_13.html

Coach 17 will be the next restoration project to be rebuilt as soon as funding becomes available.

Salvaged parts of Coach 4 are currently in the process of being moved to Essex for an eventual rebuild.

Van 23 remains at Woody Bay, and currently houses a static visitor display of photographs and other exhibits.

As to when will the L&B heritage train will be completed and in service, well how long is a piece of string?

To be honest I'm not sure. Someone did tell me that the minature railway is no longer operating, but I find that hard to believe. I'm intending to go down to Woody Bay later this week, I'll see if I can find out more for you.

The 7 1/4" gauge railway on the L&B trackbed at Bratton Fleming was sold around this time last year and has been relaid as 2ft gauge.

There is no excuse for not being a member Spuduk [-X , by the way do you recall your membership number as it will help identify you when you re-join, the membership list is also a useful tool for letting people know what is going on.

As I live up in Kent and a Life member (some one has to be the saddo) I don't know if I joined or was told I am a member back in the beginning in 1979 (a life time ago) anyway through the ups and down of the group, I can say I am very pleased with how things have turn out so far, Like you, I can't get enough of the railway (work get's in the way) so I am hoping to get down during the summertime this year.

As for the Bratton Fleming site some of it has some two foot gauge down already and rumor has it that there where a couple of 4 wheeled box vans down there as well. Not to sure about a loco just yet, Bratton Fleming station was up for sale recently, but I don't know what has happen about that just yet.

There is a lot going on and if we could all get there a bit more then more of the railway could be restored, by the way any good at building bridges ](*,) ?

    Regards

    Lynbarn

I have noooo idea what my membership number was :S Was a long long time ago! Might happen to have something lying around somewhere though! I promise I will join though, as soon as I possibly can :D

I know, I can't get enough either! Have been watching YouTube videos all week! And I have three books lying around in my room! Puts the girlfriend off a little, but she has agreed to go with me to visit at Easter :D

Oooooh thats quite exciting! Are they involved in the L&B or supporting the project? Seems a little pre-emptive, I understand Bratton is a LONG term plan!? But still, I would certainly do the same!!!

Nope :( Sorry! Will do my best to raise money to give to those that can though! I'll try :D

ARGH I am so EXCITED!! \:D/

Please be aware that the trackbed north of Bratton Fleming, formerly laid as a 7.5" gauge railway, now being converted to 2ft gauge, is privately owned and not operated by the L&B Railway.

The L&B, through Exmoor Associates, has recently gained access to further trackbed at Killington lane, which will eventually allow the railway to run from Woody bay into Parracombe. Please see the website for further information.

A 7.25" line is currently under construction at Woody Bay Station. see: The L&B website News pages. I don't believe the track or stock came from the line at Bratton, but once completed, it will provide another attraction for visitors.

The miniature line at Bratton used to have a transfer siding (or was it a branch line?) that ran up the embankment, to appear at the roadside by the bridge parapet (the rail-ends were just visible from the road). I believe this was hand- rather than loco-operated!
