If only I was able to travel from tier 3 South Gloucestershire to view the Mid-Hants illuminated trains. They look absolutely fantastic. Maybe next year. <BJ>

    I Lied........ :Saywhat:

One of our band of hardy souls ventured up on Friday, having already finished for Xmas & got boreed at home! So he started the painting on one of the roof hoops.in a nice warm CCT, bringing it up to 1st gloss.

Yours truly ventured up yesterday, after work to see what was what..... :Shifty:

The roof hoops were rubbed down & bought up to 2nd gloss, except for the underside, which can be done once in situ - after that it was time to venture into the bowls of the GPV & bring the longitundinal beams into white topcoat..... all well & good, except they'd been done in dark grey undercoat...... thank god for Weathersheild, which has a high obliteration capacity! :) :) :)

End of play saw them in to second gloss, given the warm conditions & the wind!

And that was really the last working party this side of Xmas atop the hill!!

A few pics of last nights nocturnal happenings....

This week’s YouTube video looks at the pway chaps walking the line between Medstead and Ropley.

Solid fellow that Brian! (We work together on the Alresford site team and occassionally when I help out with bank clearance further afield!)

Line side clearance and pway workers are the unsung hero’s of any railway in my book. Out in all weathers and just get on with it.

Following the announcement this afternoon that Hampshire will be in Tier 4 from Boxing day the remaining Steam Illuminations dates will be cancelled. Anyone with a booking will receive a refund as soon as we can process them.

It has been an astounding effort from many people to deliver these trains this year. They have brought joy to so many people and been on the news as far away as Moscow. Such an amazing team at the Watercress Line and I am proud to be one of them. Thanks everyone.

Thanks also to all those that bought a ticket. Without you it couldnt happened

Trouble though is how do you beat that though? because next year Simon and everyone else will have to improve on what they managed to do this year, because you can be sure other railway's would have looked at the train of lights and the MHR offering, and will develop their own version of the idea, assuming they have the expertise , or can hire it in. Simon might find himself very busy

Better to be too busy than to quiet though Martin, some sort of franchise system could be good.

Simples - re-invent the wheel & programme the brains to put on a new light show! ;)

Also, I believe other railways are already forming a disorderly queue on Simon's doorstep - hardly surprising....

Any way, here's Simon's new version of the "Green Train"! :)

Exclusive access- I can reveal the prototype for the Steam Illuminations services, secretly trialled at Medstead and Four Marks station....
