You might find it a tad tricky regauging Cogan Hall to 2', but the result would be quite interesting.....

L.A. Engineering, near Nuneaton have a Ruston for sale, from what I have been told it seems to be a 16/20 hp one

Aren't both Cogan Hall and Isabel owned by the Cambrian Trust? There's nothing on their website to suggest they are for sale. Is this link just very, very out of date?

The link is very very new! If I remember correctly the stock is owned by the (ex?) chairman of the Cambrian trust.

Don't say there's been another falling out among the Cambrians!? I thought Isabel was the main steam motive power on the Trust?
    Wot's gonna happen....!

Maybe if someone from this thread with the mechanical knowledge could find a nice little 2-foot diesel and be prepared to do it up, then other thread/forum members could maybe set up an owners' syndicate to fund it.....

£50k for the 0-6-0 sound cheap to me! I've seen steam rollers and derelict ploging engines make that kind of money!

Anyone know what condition its in?

£50K is on the high side, even with a 'ticket'. But, at the end of the day, if someone wants it and is prepared to pay, then the price is right.
Rollers and Ploughs are different altogether. You don't need a railway to run them on, for a start. Much more suited to a one-man-band and there's still a steady market for them.

..... because with rollers and ploughs fraternising with others of the same persuasion is optional, with steam engines its a obligatory peril associated with the hobby, hence the lower price of railway engines.

And you can go anywhere with a road engine as long as you have the correct licence. When you want, wherever, with whoever, 'tis the perfect antidote to railways. And before you shoot me down, I enjoy both road and rail steam. And boats and beam engines...!

Best to call and give your e-mail address, BUT PLEASE do not call if you are not seriously interested in buying!
The owner of the business is a very busy man and will not welcome SFQ's.
I will ask him f i see him in the next few days the origin of the loco.

Ah, I did not know the name L A Services, but I recognise Engineers Emporium. (My bad, I note both names are on their website). Assuming it is the loco I know of, it is a Ruston class LB, wks no 452294 of 1960, originally at Llanforda Hall Waterworks, Oswestry. They did have a Ruston 20DL and a Hunslet as well from the same source - the 20DL I believe has gone to the Ashover Railway, the Hunslet I'm not sure about - Ian, would you mind asking please?

Is the Hunslet (6298) the one that sold on ebay 19/3/09. I don't know where it moved to either, if it has moved of course?

The Hunset I am told went to Brecon Mountain Rly and the 20 DL did indeed go to the Ashover Rly.
I did speak with the owner on Sunday a sto What 2ft stock he had left and all he said was it was a Ruston but did not know much more as all the plates were missing so going by process of elimination its the LB that Ken mentions that is left for sale ( he told me of the other 2 as well).
L.A. Services trade as Engineers Emporium.

I have no business connection with the above, I just happen to know the owner as we both go to Echills Wood Railway at Kingsbury Water Park.

I'll amend my notes for the Hunslet.
