    only by making its Route Availability better and building a lot more of them.I think its only "failure" was its size and Churchward (whose idea to build it it wasnt) got the same or better perfomance out of his Stars

    Yes I agree with those choices, especially the K class mogul and C2X. Atleast I guess we will have 32424 to look forward to in the not too distant future. Add to that list an L 4-4-0, which my Dad has often said that this class was regarded by many as a better and more elegant loco than the T9's, an E1, D1, E5X and one ugly loco - a Crosti 9F.

    Some good choices having looked on Google images, I struggled to think of any SECR locos. The E5X is quite good, the SECR E1's and D1's are quite nice looking. An SECR R1 would look good with the P classes. A K (or River class) tank would also be nice but correcting the issues that caused the Sevenoaks crash.

    I was thinking more of the stability problems with the locos although they may get away with it now at 25mph as the problems were at higher speeds I think (well looking just on the net anyway.)

    Just ringing your bell.... The enquiry involved exhaustive running of the Rivers (some of it on the ECML) and although they exhibited a tendency to roll the ultimate cause of the Sevenoaks crash was (according to the board report) the state of the P.W. which had allowed the track to dip in places - however, I stand to be corrected since this is from memory!

    I think that the point that Foxhunter was making was that the poor state of the track had as much to do with the derailment as anything else (The 'River' class loco apparently ran well at speed when tested on the ECML which evidently had better track ... )
