I should really know this, but how would you describe the end number of a single car DMU? The end nearest the brake van is end number....??

    Cheers!

No1 and No2 in DMU world tend to relate to sided rather than ends. (Apart from Bubbles!)

No1 side of a powercar being that which the driver sits on, No2, the secondman's side. If its a center trailer car, then the 1st class end 'would be' the cab end, so No1 and No2 sides can be worked out from that.
