Tuesday 29th I was stewarding on the Compass tour from Rugby to Edinburgh. We arrived there about 30 minutes before the Spitfire tour so were just easing into the a siding at Craigentinny for our layover when RSG cruised past. Sods law decreed that the coach I was in just managed to get behind the fuelling rigs, leaving me no time to move. So brief and poor video taken with Fuji s1000. The other loco was referred to as a 'Ronnie' Why ???

... apparently because 57 601 painted in Porterbrook livery reminded someone of a cartoon character called Purple Ronnie. Obvious really!

Always great to see and hear one of the remaining Deltics in action, thanks Ralph.

Aha, I've had a ride out behind RSG, a few years ago, before the incident when it threw a leg out of bed, and one of the highlights of my day was a blast up Copy Pit. It was a good load and it was a magical sound bouncing off the valley sides.

Ive been meaning to do a Deltic tour for a few years now but the trouble is finding one from Birmingham where the Loco can hit 100MPH, the problem so far being either the route didn't offer much opportunity for high speed running, or in the case of most Spitfire tours, have Ronnie or a 47 in the formation limits it to the 90's, if Im going to travel behing a Racehorse i want it to be able to stretch it's legs.
