Considering booking the 34067/34046 jaunt to Exeter and back in April but is the Oborne bridge still a problem for eastbound steam?

I would suspect that when the CathEx reached Whitby, it then swapped from being a DBS/Steam Dreams operated train, to an NYMR operated train. Hazarding a guess, the train guard would most likely change from being DBS to NYMR. This would mean that No. 61264 operated under the NYMR's safety case instead of DBS, which would require a full mainline certification?

The Cathedral Express passengers swapped to an NYMR operated train at Battersby Junction for the journey to Whitby.

I believe the need for loaded tests runs is in part of the owners and operating TOC's discretion (hence why some locos have them after some repairs and others don't after other repairs). I don't know the answer to the query of why another test run but 61264 can't have had a 60mph or 75mph test run on the Battersby to Whitby line. Having worked on a couple of loaded test runs in the past, the tests include things that will need to be done at appropriate speeds.

The first on ex Manchester calls at Preston on the way out, on the return you have to get the service train from Blackburn. Looking the RTC web site it does say Preston both ways, the Electric taking over there on the way back.

You sure on that last bit Ralph ? in practice it usually ends up being Farington Jcn for the changeover to Electric if coming off the S&C.

If memory serves correct northbound passengers joining at Preston will change trains at Blackburn on the southbound journey - at no extra charge - as the locomotive changeover takes place on the southern leg of Farington triangle.

That's correct, I did this last year, and have booked to do it again in February.

RTC give out tickets for the service train, Blackburn to Preston, on the tour.

61264 likely to double head with 45407 on the CME. Usual health warning but this is the current plan!

    Excellent!

With regards to the B1 at Battersby - the passengers were swapped to an NYMR train rather than take them down to Whitby. That would mean the ECS would need to head back and then round to Malton, via a stop in York and thats quite a trip. The B1 took over after passengers were disembarked at Battersby and the B1 shunted over to pick them up. Pics can be seen at the end of the gallery here: http://www.blackhatrailwaypictures.co.uk/p340977118

With regards to tours using the B1 - can anyone confirm the plans for the motive power for the Esk Valley and the Wansbeck. Rumour is for the first to be K4 and B1, and the second to be B1 and K1. Any help would be great.
