Have they not run round one loco in the past in the sidings to work the train back into the platform?

I either didn't know or had forgotten the possibility of running round in the sidings. Presumably you then propel back out of the station once the passengers are off, and propel back in for the return run.

Correct. There is no issue propelling the class 5 ecs but not the class 1 move, ie. with passengers on board. Of course, with two locos it has always been easier to split them and run top & tail from the sidings in to the platform and vice versa.

For the 'no diesels ever' obsessives, we really do only plan to use them where necessary - not just to annoy you.

Well James, just hoping the roadmap gives WCR and partners a more secure basis for planning for this spring and summer. Good luck. Peter

I have received an email from RTC giving the cancelation of the Mancunian 27/3/21, hardly a shock given the on going situation. Do hope RTC re arrange this trip when we do get going again or at least use the Macclesfield portion of the route on another trip, this part is a much sought after stretch of track for steam haulage and I can only recall one occasion when it has been done in preservation in April 1995 with a Days Out trip to St Pancras. I stand to be corrected.

Ah, bugger. I was hoping that would survive as it's relatively infrequent we get steam on the stretch of track I can see from my house.

Looking like on the gov guidelines on non essential travel all T.O.C. tours at back end of March does look doubtful if there allowed to run or not, BUT I would reckon april looks a stronger month for rail tours to restart if the tours can get 60% of the travellers to book on 1 tour to get green lighted and the safety guidelines remain in place whilst aboard facemasks spacing amongst carriages seating passengers and thus if anyone is diagnosed with covid are not allowed to travel and must isolate. Let's see what B.J. says 1st on Monday 22 Feb about the easing of restrictions to reopening our economy carefully this time round.

Don't you think that the RTC will already have made that assessment before offering the new date? It's hard to imagine that anyone on here will know better....surely?

Some tours (by RTC and others) that were scheduled for various dates last year have been rescheduled to this year. If social distancing is still required that will mean not only less than normal capacity but also possibly not enough seats for all those who have accepted transfer of their bookings from the original dates. Who would be a railtour promoter?

RTC's website shows their contact email address as enquiries@railwaytouring.co.uk, and until some time around the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020 emails were coming from either that address or bookings@railwaytouring.co.uk. Since then, their emails have been apparently coming from bookings@railwaytouring.uk (without the "co"). I recently tried replying to that address and got a non-delivery report. So I tried again to enquiries@railwaytouring.uk with the same result. I'm now trying the original address.

I appreciate it’s a way off, but is there any incline as to what will be running the Duchy’s this year?

RYTC states 6233 or a Black 5. But won’t the Riley trio be in Scotland? So does that leave 6233 or is there something else potentially?

I believe 44871 could do it, because 62005, 45212 and 45407 are doing the Jacobite season?
