Although in service since earlier this year I have just comes across these details of a Photography Coach operated as part of the Rhaetia Bahn's network in Switzerland. Will any UK TOC offer a similar coach ?

Similar vehicles are operated on New Zealand's scenic runs from Christchuch to Greymouth (the TranzAlpine) and on the Taieri Gorge line. No glazed windows with their distortions and reflections, and it's standing room only. Unlike the Swiss, the Kiwis don't provide ceiling-mounted windows, but you can lean right out and in any case all the carriages have balcony ends. Each train has two such coaches marshalled at the front and about two thirds the way down the train. The balcony ends and theobservation cars can get very crowded. You can see one here on the right, photographed during one of the stops...

Tunnels are great as long as you like diesel fumes, though on the TranzAlpine run through Arthurs Pass the observation cars are closed through the Otira Tunnel (over 5 miles at 1 in 33) as the air is so foul. In fact, a large door closes behind the train while electric fans suck the fumes out.
