It's a Bury Curtis and Kennedy 2-2-2. The LNWR Southern Division had 6 similar engines which which are believed to have been used as the basis for the design of the Bloomers. The Bloomers were enlarged, given plate frames rather than the Bury bar frames, and boilers with conventional fireboxes rather than the Bury round type seen in this photo, but a lot of the ideas in the Bury engines were basically copied, as they were considered to be the best engines on the Southern division at the time (1850).
