One of the Wailing Wall gang at Bridgnorth reports 'many' of his neighbours at Hampton Loade (he lives in a chalet there) have bought the £120 annual pass (up to 2 adults + 4 children) and use it as a season ticket to shop in Bridgnorth. There were 500 or so sold in total last year so it's not yet *that* universal.

Easy - just ask the guard to do it.

LMS coaches are a bit of a minefield with different lengths / weights.

1501, 4566, 7714, 5764 will all be limited to 200-210t ie either 6 BR/ Gresleys or 7 LMS. Not sure about GW2 tare weight. But being only 6 sometimes 7 with an obo it just falls in line with the tonnage.
It does mean the locos especially 45 are not being subject to over working and putting undue stress on the frames.

Matt you sare not a volunteer so this does not apply. May I respectfully remind my colleagues of the SVR alcohol policy and the risk of being over the morning following a heavy session.

Matt you forgot to mention the pub at Arley and the Unicorn at HL

I also forgot River and Rail at Hampton Loade via the ferry too My definitive list is as follows:
Kiddy King & Castle, Weavers wharf.
Bewdley Mug House, not sure what the Westerns like anymore.
    Arley The Harbour
    Highley The Ship
Hampton Loade Unicorn, River and Rail
Bridgnorth Railwaymans Arms, The George, The White Lion & The Kings Head for sustenance Id recomend a Pasty from Beamans.

Just pointing out that the day rover is no longer valid on the DMU as of last year. Strictly speaking you need a separate DMU ticket.

I wasn't particularly impressed with The Unicorn and River & Rail last time I visited them, I know the River and Rail has had new management since though.

When was the last time you went to Captain Cod? It has improved over the past few years IMO while the Merchants at Bewdley is good. The Seagull at Bridgnorth is ok, not sure of the other ones.

Chips wise it certainly has improved and I prefer theirs to Our Plaice's, I don't like fish so can't tell you there. You might have got them on an off-day...
If you don't mind a walk, the Chip Inn by Hoobrook viaduct is good and the kebabs are nicely done.

Yep, and it is Our Plaice as they have gone for the pun...
When they first opened, they were good but as they are futher down the hill, they just don't get the custom and the quality dropped off IMO. I haven't been there for a while now. Also the prices there were more expensive for what you got.

River & Rail has been shut and were advertising for staff for reopening as a food place? Someone more local will no doubt correct me

Didnt know River and Rail had closed tbh my visits to SVR are not as frequent now I live in Cambridge really is the one thing I miss especially in the summer, wake up,quick cup of tea and walk it down to Rowley Regis... Jump on the unit, down to Morrisons in Kiddy for brekkie. I wont go on! Going back to Captain Cods I've always found it ok. As regards chippy in Bridgo though I've never really bothered much prefered somthing from Beamans instead. I didnt know that tickets for DMU had changed as I say my visits are not as frequent as they used to be.

Can anyone tell me if shareholder ticket vouchers are valid on special event days such as the autumn gala and diesel gala or are they only valid on normal operating days as per the annual family pass

These are the conditions for autumn gala

    SHAREHOLDERS: pre-2010 vouchers
can be exchanged for a day rover ticket at no extra cost, and post-2010 SH tickets used without an exchange. However, if they should want a 2 or 3-day rover, they pay the difference in the Rover fares and you regard each shareholder voucher/ticket (whether 1st or 3rd) as being worth £24.50 (adult), £22 (Senior Citizen) or £16 (member).
One shareholder voucher can also be accepted in exchange for two child day rover tickets, even though child fares are no longer 50% of the adult

NOTE there is no first class at the gala

As you note the annual family pass is not available at galas
