I'm going to be watching from up here in Durham, probably won't get much of a photo, but will probably give it a shot.

If anyone south of me is willing to send me a text update to let me know how it's running, please let me know [pm for number] - also I'll send an update to anyone further north if anyone would like one.

    Best wishes,

    Richard

    (P.S. Yorkshire's not that backward!)

Well, I hope you lucky chaps Up North get some decent pictures to show the rest of us! In the meantime, I have put some more A1 pictures from 1964 on my Fotopic site; here's the link for anyone interested to see them :

    http://ronfisher2.fotopic.net/c1099919.html

This is the 'Stop Press!' collection where all the new pictures go for the first couple of weeks or so. In due course I shall move them on and they will then be in the 'North Eastern Region' collection which is here :

    http://ronfisher.fotopic.net/c918082.html

    Hope they're of interest.

Heres an idea of what it could be like at Chester le Street, only in the dark.

Saw it today being prepared in the NRM prep bay. The A1 Steam Trust vinals were removed from the tender and National Express ones being applied!

Was that a joke, or are you being serious?! Would be nice to see an A1 as an "ordinary train" though :)

Isnt it nice, to see a pro-active organisation in this market. OK it isnt the usual heritage rail project but the updates and quality of PR show a standard that all the railways should be going for. Also - it must help their ability to raise funds!

I have said this before and even had people moan, 'it's easier said than done', but if you are going to have a web site, then it must be updated very regulalrly. OK it takes effort, but surely it pays in the long run. Clicking onto a link and finding the last update was 6 months ago or even longer does nothing for image and leads to apathy all round, if they cannot be bothered to update, then the potential supporter will be lost.
A1SLT do seem to be on the ball.

I would go further to say that the sponsorship from NX is probably based on the fact that they know the A1ST will make the brand clear in all areas of media. That advert will be seen by anybody who views this thread and clicks the link for example.

You ought to have a look at the Fictitious Liveries fotopic site. Maybe they'll attempt Tornado in some current liveries...

Just got back from seeing its short run to South Milford Yard and back. Looked rather nice in the setting sun.

Got one but it was running tender first at the time, in nice light though. Having problems finding my camera cable in my uni room atm.
