I hope it is a follow up, as I read somewhere that the BBC were quite surprised at how many people watched it. The original programme should have been longer than 30 minutes as it barely did the subject justice.

Prior to 60163, what was the last mainline locomotive built in the UK ? would it be class 60 60100 in the 1990's ? 66's are all Canadian, 67's are Spanish.

09.18 from the Cross. Nice to know Railway Herald read the magazine so carefully.

25th will be a big day for a number of reasons... when was the last time two seperate steam hauled services departed King's Cross on the same morning.

We already know it's 09:18 tomorrow, 18th April for the Yorkshire Pullman. Are you saying departure will be the same time next Sat, 25th?

    Added 15 minutes later:
According to Past Time Rail's website, 70013 has the 09:18 departure slot for The Lord Tennyson to Lincoln. Surely the two won't depart at the same time - will they?

I'm confused throughout most of PTR website it says 9:18 but in the tour description it states an 8:50 depature from the Cross. So I assume Ollie will leave at 9:18.

    Hey

Does anyone know when 60163 is set to come to the moors? With only a fortnight to go, I thought something would of appeared on UKsteam.info

I see that Steam Dreams' evening Father's Day trip behind Tornado is scheduled to run through Kent.

How come Tornado fits? When 60009 and 4472 took over from Clan Line on the VSOE workings, Canterbury and anywhere in Kent promptly disappeared from the selection of steam hauled itineraries used by the British Pullman, and I always understood it was due to gauging issues. Other steam-hauled excursions to Kent have been either in the hands of SR locos, BR standard classes (but excluding Duke of Gloucester) or Black Fives.

The route may be slightly different - going via the Medway Towns rather than Maidstone East, but I would be interested if anyone knows why Tornado will be able to visit Kent when other large engines have been prohibited.

Because Tornado was built to 13' not 13'1" as for all other steam locos that run on Network Rail.

Has anyone got any photos of The Tyne Tornado railtour from the 12th March that the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust could use for a publication? If so then please can you let me know. Thanks, Neil.

Shot through P'boro' at 8.35 for want of a better expression "Going like a train"! Stopping for water at Grantham.

More photogs out here today than there was for last week's advertised run. Conspiracy theory though, as the train approached a bank of photographers a South bound 43 and a North bound unit on parallel lines both slowed down masking Tornado. Deliberate ploy or merely allowing their passengers a view of the loco?
