    Especially as I normally extract a lot more than £20 for a footplate ride... and my footplate ride was at the personal invitation of the WHRL Vice-Chairman (who, by the way, is trying to claim that it's him in the Guard's Van [-X )

    I saw his claim to your signature in the other place. I did not want to take that one further off topic. All I can say is :smt019 to Chris!!! You have got the pose just right, elbows on window frame, hands clasped together in front. Although on that particular run past it was hang on for dear life, while watching the toast-rack wobble after us. Were you on the footplate for the run past?

    No, I was in the yard near the signalbox - surrounded by several photographers who seemed more interested in taking a picture of me (because I didn't have my camera with me... ](*,) ) rather than concentrating on the rapidly approaching train...

    It was worth the track being up to such a high standard just for that run past, thank god the Eisteddfod Carr wasn't in the train it would have probably fallen to bits.
