Was that intended for working the underground bit where the A4 and King are stord then?

Seriously, is there a hanger that is out of bounds due to condition?

The hangar with all the road stuff, traction engines etc, is not out of bounds, but is escorted visits only. As for the King and the A4, they're in my garden...

Shhhhhhhhhh! I thought that was a hush-hush project to build one decent loco out of the two of them.

So, the scrap value of the King will help pay for the overhaul of the A4...........?
(Never miss the opportunity to get in a dig about the GW as some people will always bite!)

On another thread, Anthony says he's also restoring a steam roller. Put everything together and you could get a streamlined road roller with a copper-capped chimney for high-speed road repairs. Hmmm ...

i looked around Wroughton when it held an open day a few years back and on this occation the normally closed hanger was open , there was a LNWR tender in there, but no full size locos.
Its a very good site to visit with some real jems ,its a pity that the runway isnt usable now, it would have made a very good airshow venue also, What are the science museums long term plans because the hangers are now beginning to show their age and can only get into a worse condition unless serious money is spent on the site
