Class 47 47500 and three WCRC carrriages passed Green Lane, between Aldershot and Farnham, a couple of minutes early on their way to collect 35005 from Alton. Only just got out of work in time and got down the road which is next to the railway as they passed. Hope the sun stays out for the move of 35005 later.

Well that was an experience! 47500 with 35005 and 3 carriages on time past Green Lane, between Aldershot and Farnham. Two shots here http://steamtube.ning.com/photo/albums/canadian-pacific-moves-to-eastleigh-22-09-11

I had hoped to get better shots but at the time I was being checked to see if I had a criminal record!
Just before the 47 arrived a Police car pulled up and two Community support officers stepped out and asked me what I was doing. So I replied "Waiting for a steam train". I was then subjected to the "Spanish Inquisition" as I informed them that 35005 was heading for Eastleigh. One of them told me I had the wrong line for trains to Eastleigh!!!!! I then had to explain 35005 was going via Guildford and Haslemere. I then had to show some ID which they checked out on a new wireless gizmo to make sure I had no criminal record. Luckily the 47 with 35005 turned up on time as they were still checking me out and proved that I was telling the truth! They then left me to return home. A sign of the times I guess. Still, it was good to see 35005 on her way!

Haven't they got anything better to do? No wonder the public are always against the police, all they do in allianate people going about their lawful business. They weren't proper policemen it seems, just toy police trying to show off. Glad it wasn't me there because they would of been told where to get off & an official complaint made for harassment. What would of happened if GF wasn't carrying ID, not everyone does, been carted off to the nick? It stinks.

I agree these days you cannot stand on a station, bridge or on a public footpath without someone quizzing you why your there.

It's even worse if you have a camera around your neck, but holding a mobile phone is acceptable these days it appears.

The lane I was standing along is pretty quiet and not used that much. Just my luck the Police came along when I was there waiting!

I Saw it at the loop in Alton after probably for me seeing 73096 in service for the last time I returned to Guildford the train came through

platform 5 after the up from Pompey being cancelled due to trespassers at Hilsea.

It was good to see 35005 on the move for a while.

Memories of witnessing the Paddock Wood incident still come to mind. Hope it's not too long before she is back.

Maybe you shouldn't have had a black berry, black and white striped top and SWAG scrawled across your camera bag!

That doesn't matter! As long it was not private property, You were doing nothing wrong, plus the fact it was broad daylight, they had absolutely no right to tackle you. This country is becoming more & more a police state. As I said earlier, I would have took their names & numbers & made an official complaint to the highest level. It's the same round here, Iam frightened to park in a public car park/picnic area etc. In case the old bill come sniffing along asking stupid questions, even again in broad daylight in the middle of the day. Before you ask, I've nothing to hide!

Yes that is a possibility though I understand Ivatt tank 31312 could be overhauled before "Cam=Pac" though I stand to be corrected.

Damn! I knew I should have changed before going out!

They certainly think there are some dumb people around as they also thought that I had stolen my push-bike which was leaning against the fence! Apparently there had been a lot of bikes stolen in the local area and though mine was one of them. I don't know what they would have done if I hadn't had any ID with me.

At the AGM last night it was stated that 35005 has only gone to Eastleigh for storage at the moment. Originally she was going to go into a new museum but this plan didn't come to anything.

Slightly off topic, was there any other announcements at the AGM that are interesting?

I'm suprised at you Chris, on a previous occasion you castigated Green Five for posting news of an AGM on this forum. Your comment then was,if people want to know what was talked about at the meeting, the they should attend that meeting. Let's have some consistency please.

    Hi Spanner;

Yes you are correct about what I said about Green Five, however this year the AGM date clashed with the annual Carriage and Wagon Convention this year held at Didcot otherwise I would have been there.

    Best regards
    Chris
