I read with some interest that this loco's boiler ticket expires in June this year , what are the MHR planning to do with her, is there any chance of an extension to her ticket being as she spent quite a time under repair , or is that now it?

recently a lot of money has been spent on her and to me it would make sence to , as long as the boiler is sound and the mechanical state of the engine isnt too worn to try to get another year in traffic to try to recoupe some of that expence
And lastly, please keep off the ownership issues, im interested in the loco, not in the old politics etc

There's an interesting post on the MHR overhaul thread about 73096 and 34016.

Wouldn't have thought there was any expense incurred over the new cylinder etc. Insurance paid for that , didn't it?

She was also retyred around the same time. Even if the insurance paid for the cylinder, it still meant the MHR was down a loco and they had to pay for a hire loco or use one of their other locos a lot more, meaning added costs and/or potentially higher repair costs for the other locos.
The MHR would've paid for her overhaul originally, and they would have assumed that they would get X years from the loco. If she spent say 6 months out of action then the overall cost to the MHR of running 73096 will have risen. Downtime always has a knock-on effect!
