    Seems to be still some way to go before the DPS are completely happy to let her out onto the big railway.

    I'd love to but my mobility is a bit restricted. I'm waiting for an appointment for nerve blocker injections in the 2nd left knee replacement a so called surgeon did 3 years ago.:mad: I'll have to satisfy myself waiting for all the kind gentlemen posting videos of the mighty machine blasting up the 'racing ground' between York and Newcastle.:Happy:

    Howzabout the sight of it blasting past Hay Bridge during its SVR sojourn for the diesel gala ?

    [IMG] Important Announcement - Saturday 3rd December Charter [IMG]
    Unfortunately on the advice of 2 of our Senior Engineers the Directors of the Deltic Preservation Society have to advise you that a decision was made today, Thursday 27th October to withdraw the locomotive from this Rail Tour. We offer our sincere apologies to all those who have booked o the tour. Our partners at Pathfinder Tours, Riviera Trains and West Coast Railways have all been informed. I know that Pathfinder are already busy looking for alternative attractive motive power. We will make further announcements in the new year once we have a clearer picture on when the loco may be ready
    Despite the valiant efforts of a small but dedicated team of volunteers who have travelled thousand’s of miles, at their own expense, over the last 6 months supporting the loco, which has done nearly 1,800 miles trouble free running, to ensure its fitness we have had to make this decision today following the finding of several faults. One of these faults being a cracked exhaust silencer which could cause a fire risk, the loco has subsequently been withdrawn on safety grounds to allow the boiler roof section to be removed to allow the silencer to be removed, cleaned and repaired. There are also a few other outstanding issues but this has just impacted on the workload. We feel it inappropriate to continue to try to make our deadlines for the required test runs with WCR and would leave little time for Pathfinder Tours to find a replacement locomotive should they decide to continue with the tour which was selling well with over 350 of the 536 seats sold.
    Once again, we offer our sincere apologies to our customers and supporters

    40145 confirmed as replacement for the tour.

    Edit - 40145 will only work north of Burton on Trent sidings. A WCRC diesel will work Swindon - Burton and return.

    Cracked liners :eek::eek::eek:
    They are dedicated volunteers at DPS Barrow Hill, many thanks from old Victor. HNRC I imagine are doing a contract job on RSG, cracked liners is not a job for the faint hearted

    Looking at the times, seems to have been a success.

    That residue....reminds me of my first motorcycle....an Ariel Golden Arrow sports 250cc. It left a trail of smoke too ...the Deltic growl, though, is unique....
