Could someone explain how the flexible steam coupling works on a Fairlie locomotive? As they have a power bogie that moves independantly of the main frame, how does the steam passage connect? Is it a hose between bogie and boiler, or some sort of pipe?

It sounds a silly question, but one that I dont know the answer to.

    Thanks in advance,
    Andy

As above there is a Ball joint and hose arringment in a ] shape on the live side and a ball joint and telescopic sleave on the exhaulst side which forms into the blast nozel, often refered to as an Incca Temple due the shape it appears through the smokebox door. I have some pictures of the bogies somewhere, I will look them out in a while
