7822 Boiler Appeal

Following the unexpected boiler repairs required to 7822, and the subsequent loss in earnings, the Society has unfortunately been placed into the position that there is a five figure shortfall. Therefore in order to combat this a new appeal has been launched to help cover the unexpected repair bills.

Also to help raise further funds, an Evening Social has been arranged for a week Friday (25th July).
Tickets are £15, and will include a round trip along the Llangollen Rly with a BBQ at Llangollen.
Upon your return to Llangollen there will be a Real Ale Bar with Live Music, and the opportunity to drive the Service Locomotive from Llan Platform 2 for £1o with all monies going towards 7822.

The Llangollen Railway are running an ad' for their 'Along Western Lines' event on the 29th-31st August, listing 7822 as well as 3802, 80072 and 5199.

Is 7822 feasible for the event...?

 

Mat put elsewhere, that whilst the target is achievable with a few sleepless nights here/there they are not guaranteeing themselves just yet but neither are they saying no chance. All depends how much support (both in volunteer days & finance) they get between now and then.

There's no chance of the Manor being finished, but 5199 has a month's work left to do, so even she is a maybe.

Good to hear she is on the way back!

 

According to the website she is now having a complete retube, hopefully this will mean from sometime during 2015 there will be a full 10 years worth of her!

 

A full re tube, that the society don't actually have the money for, so dig deep or it could be later than 2015.

 

Surely the host railway could sub the required finance in lieu of future steamings?

 

I don't think Llangollen are flush with finance at the moment...

 

How can you make a statement like this when you don't have any access to our accounts ?

Sorry if any offence, more just in terms of thought that money was tide up in Corwen extension.

 

But Llan Engineering can't prop up every loco every time they need repairs. There is a limit to to what they can offer, and with 3802 part owned by the rly they have their own loco to care for too. It just helps ease the burden if the support groups for each loco can assist where they can. No difference to other railways / locos.

 

FMS could have asked the PLC to do the work in lieu of steaming fees, but didn't want to which is why they are running an appeal to raise the money.
