And who'd have thought then there'd still be another four years worth of work to undertake? The same for Royal Scot I suppose - and look at them both now, emerging in BR Green in the same year...strange coincidences those two locomotives have shared.

 

I do like seeing a certain A1 proudly wearing 51A on its front. I know its not steam but D8059 in its current livery wearing this is rather nice

 

I also think Mr Coulls had a prefernce for this! This isnt a dig btw Anthony but I do seem to recall you saying it was somthing you'd like to see! ;-)

 

Interesting report about 60103's return in the August Issue of The Railway Magazine out on Wednesday.
Main Points are:
- 60103 is expected to move under her own power again in December at the ELR before beginning her running in and light and loaded test runs on the ELR in January.
- First public event will be the ELR steam gala in January.** Won't be happening?**
-19th or 20th January she is planned to run from the ELR to Carnforth and will then undertake a test run or two on the Carnforth-Hellifield-Blackburn-Preston-Carnforth Loop.
-First ML charter provisionally scheduled for the 23rd January RTC Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express with 60103 working over Shap and returning over the S & C.
-60103 will be officially unveiled at Kings Cross on February 7th before hauling a charter to York.
-She will then be on display at York from 13th to 26th February and March 22nd to May 9th.
-Between the display periods she is due to visit the NYMR.
-She will visit the SVR for their Autumn Steam Gala in 2016.
-She will be available for 24 Railtours in 2016 (shared between RTC and SD).

**Edited: ELR Steam Gala is now no longer being held in January.

 

The above is great news! Watch out for 'the Tornado effect' as the normals will be out in their thousands to watch her go by.

 

It will be interesting to see how the general publics' reaction to Scotsman's return will be, it has been out of the public eye for over ten years now, and a certain new pacific has come on to the scene through that time too.

Though I'm sure they'll still be great interest, it would appear everyone knows the name Flying Scotsman, though I do sometimes wonder if they recall it more for the actually train service or the engine. In any case, I'm certainly very much looking forward to it.

Most definitely, especially if they'd could secure a certain apple green pacific... OH COME ON! I know I can't be the only one who's dying to see these two giants meet at last, can I?!

That would be great, in fact I'd be tempted to suggest they hold off the ultimate LNER line up until the P2 can join in, as it could be argued it deserves a place with them too.
And I suspect it's not going to be all that long at all actually until the two meet, though considering how big of crowds they tend to bring in on their own, lords knows how hectic it'll be when they have their get together...

I for one don't care what livery any of them carry, or whether they have to be brought in by road, as long as they are there - hell, I'd even like to see an A4 in apple green, never mind silver!

 

I wouldnt mind an apple green A4 it'd certainly go rather well with the teaks!

 

I remember in the early '90's the SVR played host to 4472 and 3440 I seem to recall that being a rather busy weekend. I think it 60163 and 60103 will meet up at some point it would be nice if it wasnt just a one off though and if it happened on several different occasions at different locations. Anyone for 60103 on the maroon set and 60163 on the teaks at the SVR?. We could even get the N2 back and have 69023 on pilot duties at Kiddy...
