Historical operational data

Does anyone know how one can find out if a particular locomotive operated over a line? The time period is 1963 to 1966

 

There is no universal official database which will answer your question, but for most lines users of this forum will at least know the types of locomotives which operated, if not always their specific numbers. In some areas enthusiasts kept records of their observations for their local lines and that kind of information might provide an asnwer. Try asking on here for the lines and locos you are interested in.

 

Further answers can be gained from photographic albums and - as noted - a request for specific locos on specific routes can usually be confirmed by posters with knowledge of either the line or photographic records.
