    Evening All

    I have been given a photo taken in Italy in May of this year of a former German Railways Diesel Hydraulic loco, was this class of loco what our Warships were based on?

    I have found through net searches that 13 of these locos are in use in Italy with private operators, can anyone help me with this particular loco please

    Misidentification, this a Belgian class 62 diesel. The Belgians sold several main line diesels, shunters and even EMUs to the Italians.

    AFAIK the German DH loco type you are thinking of is a V200.

    I can't help wondering if the styling and livery of the V200 was itself inspired by the original VW Transporter van, which predates the V200 by a few years!
