Which lines have the most used main line connections? for passenger use and also for stock movements.

Probably best to keep it one post to each connection so that it can be quoted and added to.

Bo'ness and NYMR probably the most used I'd say. Glad to be proved wrong though.

The Ribble Steam Railway's mainline connection is used 2 - 3 times a week throughout the year for commercial freight. That might make it the most used in the country.

The NYMR connection at Grosmont is used up to six times a day by services, for about half the year plus all the other comings and goings. That must make it the most used?

Certainly not the most used in Britain, but the Strathspey Railway's mainline connection at Aviemore is regularly used through the summer by the Royal Scotsman's multi-day long luxury tours of the Highlands. It regularly runs up to Boat of Garten where passengers dine, sleep and breakfast on board, while the overnight stop is also used for reprovisioning.

I presume the South Devon Railway decided they weren't getting the use out the mainline connection and couldn't justify the cost of keeping it?

Can't believe the WSR hasn't been mentioned yet!

The DFR's is used pretty regularly.

London Underground has at least 6 connections in daily use (some every few minutes), does that count?

ESR is still connected, first mile or so is unused up to Merehead quarry after that the remaining 4/5 miles to Westbury Taunton Mainline are still used.

The WSR one has been used very regularly (hundreds of times per year) in recent times for the discharge of ex NR spent ballast & occasional passenger workings.

I suspect the answer from this thread is the NYMR most, WSR next and probably no-one else very close.

Not correct. Temporary disconnection only. Re-alignment needed when re-connected.

Yes but only temporary. Need re-alignment when re-instated.
