    That got your attention!

    We had a thread some time ago on assembling non working locos from worn out spare parts.

    It's clear from researching into 60103 that had someone bought Doncaster's spares inventory in say, 1962 they'd have had most of the parts to build one or two A3's (and goodness knows how many bits for other classes).

    Presumably something similar would have been true at least at Crewe and Swindon.

    Did anyone think of this? Has anyone searched the outlying parts of Crewe for bits? And most important, what number would we give the phantom engines? :)
