The happy band at the Middleton Railway also managed to complete a 100% service and managed a record year, as well, despite the snows and freezing temperatures.

Hope you got some good shots, the sun looked like it came out abit today! By the time you read this you have either been or not gone! But, if anyone else is going the roads are pretty good all in all, I parked in the lay-by at the water works no problem. I wouldn't take the road from Horsted station up to Lywood Tunnel though, looked quite bad and the Bluebell website also says not too! Go via the village and the road to Sharpthorne.

I managed to get to the Bluebell on Christmas eve. A long day, got up at 7am, drove to the Bluebell, spent the day there, went to work in the evening, then drove to Chester overnight! 400 miles all told but worth it in the end.

Most of the roads were clear, but that didn't stop one Merc driver binning his car into someone's front wall! The weather was bright but a bit overcast in the morning, and the leaking drain cock on 1638 didn't help matters, especially with the northerly wind. At least for the last run with the Bulleid the sun was out and the glint approaching HK was superb! The sky later was fantastic too.

I'll try to post some pictures in the next week or so, assuming my internet finally gets set up.

  6. All "Santa" trains (Minehead Santa Specials; Bishops Lydeard Santa Specials; Santa Expresses; Quantock Belle) on the WSR completed. Steam lance in use to de-ice points at Crowcombe. Pick and shovel at Minehead, Blue Anchor, Williton, Crowcombe, Bishops Lydeard. Stone train managed to complete its journey to Minehead and back. All is well.

With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year
