Well, 44932 did fail with a hot box, so 46115 is probably more likely.

 

Can anyone confirm what's at the head of this train?

 

46115 just passed me a few miles north of Church Fenton.

I was secretly hoping for a black five today, but the Scot was beautifully turned out and looked a treat in the morning sunshine.

Have had news 46115 has failed at Carlisle . The tour will return with a diesel now I believe .

 

Relaying news from BigAl, it has failed with hot tender axle box, train will return DL hauled.

Photos at Waitby and Long Marton on the northbound before 46115 was failed at Carlisle.

I should have opted for a location where I had phone signal to hear about 46115's failure. Ais Gill was a bit of a miserable place as the 47 went past in its place this afternoon.

Earlier today I thought that 46115 was going to hold its form through the summer. rats

 

Had a Fantastic day out on the Waverley despite the failure of the Scot which gave a very spirited perfomance on the way there. The 47 put in some fast times on the way back and with no water stops was able to turn a late departure of 47 minutes into an early arrival of 7 minutes.
Full marks to WCR for getting the replacement up quickly and a big thank you to the train plus catering people for helping make it a great day out.
