This may have been been mentioned before but when the Dutch gentleman who bought 80135 first accuired wasn't it his intention was for it to go maroon? Also I seem to remember a certain Jinty in BR maroon... Suited rather well too.

I bet she sounds great up that bank. I've been riding 7827 on the Dart this week, awesome is the word.
Can't wait for the NNR gala at the end of the month. 92203 returns as well :)

    NEW MEMBERSHIP LEVEL INTRODUCED

The Board of Directors of Dinmore Manor Locomotive Limited are acutely aware of the need to recruit new ‘young blood’ to join our ranks if we as a company want to survive for the long term. Common with many locomotive owning groups and heritage railways the majority of our Directors, Shareholders and Working Volunteers are well in to retirement age.

With this in mind we are launching a new level of membership aimed towards, but not exclusively for, younger people. Members will become part owners of the DMLL locos, benefit from invites to members only events, drive and fire days, special trains and the like, have a right to vote and attend our AGM plus be able to attend our many working days should they wish, the only difference over the higher membership levels being that all communication from DMLL will be ‘electronic’.

Two of our younger members, Mark and Dan, (pictured below) have carried out many and varied tasks during their time volunteering with us from the machining and fitting of parts to accompanying our engines during visits away to other railways, both have made new friends, developed new skills and expanded their knowledge of the workings of steam locomotives, volunteering is also an attractive addition to your C.V.

Interested? Contact us via this page for further details.

What a great idea, also good to focus on electronic comms with this group as that should save on costs for you and the members.

Quite agree. An imaginative move to bring in younger members. Let's face it, there's plenty to keep them busy. By the time that both 2874 and 3845 have been restored to working order, the young may not be quite so young!

On a different note, if anyone is planning to visit the GWSR to photograph 7820, it's worth noting that following the trip to the WSR, she has been unloaded facing Toddington rather than Cheltenham. I was caught out yesterday.

DINMORE MANOR LOCOMOTIVE LTD'S NEW APRROACH FOR 2874

Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd announces that it is to pass the ownership of its 1918 built heavy freight loco 2874 to a new 2874 Trust. The Trust is to seek charitable status.

The move is aimed to improve access to funding to restore the loco which is presently in "ex Barry" condition. The project is seen as important since restoration would make it the only engine of it class with the original design feature of internal steam pipes actually in operation.

The restoration will be undertaken by DMLL at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s Toddington works using both DMLL and GWR volunteers. Following restoration Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd will operate the loco on behalf of the Trust.

Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd Chairman, Kenneth Sims said "This is an ideal arrangement for us. It will fund 2874's restoration whilst leaving the DMLL organisation free to concentrate its resources on our present locomotive fleet of our flagship loco BR(W) No 7820 Dinmore Manor and GWR Heavy Freight No 3850. Dinmore Manor has only returned to steam in 2014 after a heavy overhaul and 3850 will come due for overhaul in 2015”

The 2874 Trust will be chaired by former GWR Chairman, Malcolm Temple who said "I am delighted to be asked back by steam enthusiasts to tackle another major challenge. It's a tremendous project".

There will be the opportunity for steam enthusiasts to become a member of the Trust and help achieve its aim. See the web site www.2874trust.org in the coming days.

The Trust also seeks recruits to help with management and fund raising. Contact David Foster at dh.foster@btinternet.com or on 01643 706943

It would make an ideal stablemate for 7827 Lydham Manor at Paignton. ;)

If you need to ask, you probably can't afford it...!! I bet the annual maintenance bill isn't cheap either.

Stunning looking place, though and in a beautiful location.

Absolutely beautiful! I can just picture it with a nice 7.25" gauge line running around the grounds...

Another point of interest, having just looked back at the posts above relates to post no.187 from October 2014, 'New Membership Level Introduced'. The two individuals pictured; now five years on (scary, where has that time gone?) have now both graduated from University with engineering degrees, and not only do they both feature in the pictures on Facebook helping at the forefront of 3850's new front end build project but also have both recently sat in on a DMLL Board meeting with a view to helping to not only strengthen our Board but to help 'future proof' it. We are most fortunate to have quite a few younger folk involved with our projects, long may it continue because without them, put quite simply, one day it won't!
