According to my notes, GWR 5643 left Barry scrapyard in November 1971 for the Eastern Valleys Railway. Then in 1972 it moved on to Carnforth.

Does anyone know about the Eastern Valleys Railway scheme, where it was based, what their objectives were, and if they ever ran any trains?

    Thanks ....

According to the Barry List 5643 left Barry for the Eastern Valleys scheme (based in Cwmbran) in Sept 1971. When the project failed it went to Carnforth.

Thanks Ray. Cwmbran. South Wales seems to have had its fair share of failed preservation schemes.
